INTRINSIC GLASS CAMEO
Jonathan has developed an innovative glass carving technique selectively carving through layers of pure glass colour on the inside of the form. A thick sumptuous casing of crystal glass forms an optical lens focusing on and magnifying the detailed carving in high relief. Vibrant shifts of colour are encapsulated amidst the three dimensional imagery as sparkling light is captured within the form. Logic suggests that conventional glass cameos are subdued and opalescent with a matt surface. In contrast, intrinsic cameo exploits unique glass qualities of transparency and translucency to create carved cameos which are colourful, glossy and extremely ‘glassy’.
CUP-CASED GLASS CAMEO 
Traditional English Cameo Glass cup casing techniques, plus highly complex core overlays, deliver multiple stratum of pure colour both on the inside & outside of the glass vessel. I divide the narrative by carving imagery on both the internal & exterior surfaces of the crystal form.
By incorporating 24ct gold leaf between the colour layers, I endeavour to redirect attention from the inner to the outer carved layers, as the light source & angle of viewing rotates & employ a clear glass substrate between the layers allowing the story to coalesce and become one.
The hand carved surface qualities are lustrous & tactile, enticing the viewer to touch, caress & engage with the vessel.
SILVER GRAAL CASED GLASS
Highly skilled and unique art glass pieces. An ancient technique, The Holy Grail of glassmaking, extremely challenging and difficult to perfect but Jonathan & his artisan glassmakers have achieved spectacular results. Each piece is unique. The Gräal technique lends itself to my fascination with blending hot studio techniques with carving and engraving surface layers. The fluid hot glass threatens to take control of my drawn imagery with every warm-in. The challenge is to coax the glass into shape, allowing the temperature of the newly gathered layers to fuse and encapsulate the form before losing control. These pieces seem to become more than the sum of their parts once the final layers are in place.

Traditional artisan skills brought back to life creating one of a kind hand carved cameo glass fused with sterling silver leaf. A unique process creating exquisite detail in contrasting colour and high relief.
Sterling silver leaf is hot fused over multiple layers of enamel colour during the glass blowing process. The design is hand carved using diamond point drills and contemporary carving techniques to create a tactile glass cameo in fine detail and relief for glass collectors worldwide.
