THE CHOSEN SITE – COALPORT & IRONBRIDGE GORGE
Our showroom is open by appointment only - we are happy to open for you!
Our small glassmaking studio was located in the courtyard of the Coalport China Museum, on the banks of the river Severn, nestled within Shropshires picturesque and famed Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.
This idyllic setting has inspired many of our designs such as Wilderness & Watergarden and ‘Horizon’which is based on the surrounding Shropshire landscape. We have skillfully applied layers of enamel colours, straps and trails to create the 3d undulation of the hills and valleys, set against the tranquil sky.
We are keen to impart our knowledge of this ancient craft and therefore our studio and showroom is open to visitors who can witness the making of these fascinating pieces. You can watch the master glassmaker turn a ball of red hot molten glass into a stunning vase, goblet or perfume bottle, adorned with a myriad of colour, flowers, 22ct gold or sterling silver leaf. You can watch the step by step process unfold before your eyes and marvel at the skills of the glassmaker as he applies the enamel colours, canes, straps, silver and gold leaf, before browsing around our showroom and enjoying the finished pieces.
Our showroom houses a selection of items ranging from hand made glass marbles, paperweights, perfume bottles and vases all at factory prices, to hand carved cameo and gräal limited editions.
The Ironbridge Gorge is the birth place of industry and is now home to ten individual themed museums, all focusing on an area of historic importance to the Industrial Revolution. Here, there is something for all ages, young and old and a very memorable and enjoyable visit lies in store.
