Post-Floods Stock Sale!
As many of you know, we have unfortunately been severely affected by the recent and unprecedented floods, following storm Ciara and then a few days later, storm Dennis!
The River Severn first entered our studio in Ironbridge on the 18th February, peaking at 6.5 metres. River levels slowly dropped and the water receded two days later,
leaving a shocking trail of contaminated and ruined equipment and stock in its wake. However, river levels remained high and a few days later the water came back in peaking at 6.8 meters - 30cm higher than the previous week!
As a result, our key glassmaking equipment was submerged in the water, despite our best efforts to save it. Consequently, the damage we have sustained is catastrophic,
although we will not know the full extent until we can take apart and access the damage to each piece.
The EA has finally, lifted the flood warning for Ironbridge and Coalport and we hope this will remain for the next several years!!
The ‘deep clean’ can now commence in earnest, but due to the damage to our equipment, at this stage, we have no idea when we will be in a position to recommence glassmaking.
As hard and distressing as this is, we are still extremely grateful that our home is still dry and knowing how awful flooding is, we do feel terribly sorry for those whose homes have been affected.
