Reheated and fire polished silver cameo. Richly decorated with multiple layers of enamel, chips, trails, millifleur and 24ct gold leaf. The colourful, organic internal decoration is skilfully entwined around the form to create the backdrop to the detailed foreground. A further clear cased layer, enamel colour and hot fused silver leaf form the final surface layers. Once cooled Jonathan hand carves the design with a diamond drill and innovative sand carving techniques to create tremendous detail in relief. The vessel must be gently reheated, reconnected to the blowing iron and brought back up to working temperature in the glory hole. As the temperature increases the surface becomes fire polished returning the transparency to the clear cased layers revealing the internal decoration.
